SL22B Opening Ceremony

The Amazon display at SL22B featured a native camp setup, where visitors could gather around a central fire and experience the spirit of ceremony, culture, and connection with nature.

Members of the XocoTribe and Tapi Tribe prepare for the ceremony as visitors gather in a warm, relaxed atmosphere filled with friendship, curiosity, and cultural exchange.

Bubba, the Tapi elder and beloved jungle sage, opened the ceremony with a heartfelt and humorous speech, reminding all to “let the river flow through you” as he spoke of tradition, unity, and the joyful spirit of the Amazon.

Bubba Oh: “As you know – it is a tradition, that the eldest Elder say a few words at the start of such important ceremonies such as this…”
Bubba Oh: “And so it has fallen to me – even though I consider myself young at heart…”
Bubba Oh whispers: “The Amazon River…”
Bubba Oh: Coughs
Bubba Oh shouts: “The Amazon River…”
Bubba Oh: “The Amazon River is one of the worlds biggest rivers – it carries by far the most water of all the rivers in the world!”
Bubba Oh: “The river flows through our lives as it flows through our beloved nation of Brazil!”
Bubba Oh: “It brings all sorts of people to our little corner of the jungle – our little corner of Second Life!”
Bubba Oh: “It brings us all kinds of fashion…” gestures toward Khaing and the Tapirapé Shaman
Bubba Oh: “And it brings us the best Brazil has to offer – Like my purple Ipanema Posto 10 flip flops!”
Bubba Oh: “I brings us many interesting characters from all walks of life!”
Bubba Oh: “But today we have a special treat – a special honor!”
Bubba Oh: “You will witness one of our most important rituals among us native tribes of the North”
Bubba Oh: “Pay well attention!”
Bubba Oh shouts: “And let the river flow through you!”
Bubba Oh: Nods sagely – and shuffles off the stage

n a moving joint ceremony, members of the Tapi and Xoco tribes honored the spirit of the Amazon through ritual, dance, and offerings. With sacred chants, elemental invocations, and animal dances, the tribes celebrated unity with the forest, reminding all present that the jungle is not only a place—but a living memory shared in breath, rhythm, and respect. Music for the ceremony was beautifully curated by Xoco member Diana, adding depth and emotion to each moment Moments from the ceremony can be seen in the pictures below.

Naked Wednesdays Are Back

During a lengthy and rather boring Elder meeting, it was decided to reinstate regular Naked Wednesdays. The events will be smaller in scope, usually a bath, ceremony and dancing, but occasionally we’ll venture out for collective activities as well.

Today involved a bath and dancing with music provided by the Xoco and Alli. It was nice to be together again and also nice to see the Seekers back at our Wednesday gatherings.

Fishing Week – Day 5

Today was a laid-back and enjoyable day for the Tapi, as it was the Xoco that hosted all activities. The day began with Diana hosting the entertaining Rum Smugglers game. This year’s version of the game proved to be particularly challenging, keeping everyone on their toes. Everyone put their heads together, trying to decipher the clues, but it wasn’t until Shui cracked the code and figured out the correct sentence that we could move on to a big Beach Party also hosted by the Xoco.

Fishing Week – Day 1

Fishing Week started with the time-honored Blessing of the Water ritual, setting a vibrant tone for the days ahead. After a sacrifice of fruit and flowers, the women of the tribes gathered to perform traditional dances in honor of Mama Cocha, the revered goddess of the sea and fishing. Their graceful movements and heartfelt rhythms were not only meant to ensure a bountiful catch for the week but also held a special significance this year.

With a sickness spreading through the jungle, the ritual took on an added layer of importance. The community hoped that by showing their respect and gratitude to Mama Cocha, they might receive her blessing to drive away the illness and restore health to the land.

Naked Wednesday – Inti Celebration

Naked Wednesday was in honour of inti this time. We all met in the beautiful cave, Summer had decorated for the event.

People gather at the temple

Once everyone had settled, it was time to get our hair painted in the red colour of the sun.

After most had their hair coloured red, it was time for a series of rituals. Atan said a prayer and then Summer and Whisper put Bubba’s wedding bowl together again so he could remarry.

Belleniko entertained with stories of Bubba’s marriage before we head to the Xoco sacred circle to continue the celebration.

Thank you everyone for participating!

Naked Wednesday – The Sack Race

The 15th Naked Wednesday was celebrated with a Sack Race, cause the gods love happy people!

The Shaman says the Naked Wednesday Prayer while everyone bathe

After the bath, everyone joined together and raced in sacks from the Tapi camp, north to the Xoco camp for Xocolat.

Special Naked Wednesday

This Wednesday the Tapi and Xoco met at Muddy Water where Elle found an old labyrinth. We traversed it, avoiding lures like beds and spa’s…  After we went to Mama Allpa where we bathed, had a naked Wednesday ritual and finally a big party for our Shaman, Whispering Wind who had a birthday.

Story Hour

The Xoco Tapi story telling was this time hosted by the Xoco. Pictures curtsy of Redbone.
