Fishing Week – Day 3

The Jurito took charge of Wednesday’s Fishing Week activities, bringing plenty of excitement and laughter to the day. According to tradition, every Chief and Elder of the tribes would spend time in the stockades, allowing their tribe members the chance to throw fish at them. This time-honored practice always managed to draw big smiles and laughs from everyone involved.

In a recent twist to the tradition, afterwards the tables were turned, giving Chiefs and Elders a chance to get even. It was a fun event as always and a nice break from fishing.

Fishing Week – Day 2

On the second day of Fishing Week, we celebrated the Spirit Animal Guide ritual, one of the most popular traditions of the week. After spending the morning and early afternoon  fishing, everyone gathered around Mama Allpa, eagerly anticipating their turn to discover their spirit animal guide.

The atmosphere was filled with a mixture of excitement and reverence as the Shaman prepared for the ceremony. She consumed a significant amount of ayahuasca, a sacred brew known for its powerful connections to the spiritual realm. As the effects took hold, the Shaman began to communicate with the spirits, seeking guidance and insight for each participant.

Meanwhile, everyone lined up patiently and one by one, they approached the Shaman, who revealed the unique animal spirit that would guide them. This ritual deeply connected each person with their spiritual essence, fostering a sense of unity and tradition within the group.

Fishing Week – Day 1

Fishing Week started with the time-honored Blessing of the Water ritual, setting a vibrant tone for the days ahead. After a sacrifice of fruit and flowers, the women of the tribes gathered to perform traditional dances in honor of Mama Cocha, the revered goddess of the sea and fishing. Their graceful movements and heartfelt rhythms were not only meant to ensure a bountiful catch for the week but also held a special significance this year.

With a sickness spreading through the jungle, the ritual took on an added layer of importance. The community hoped that by showing their respect and gratitude to Mama Cocha, they might receive her blessing to drive away the illness and restore health to the land.

Initiation for Ket and Sunny

Today was the Initiation of Ket and Sunny, from prospects to full Tapi. It was also the first time we gathered in the new sacred place.

It was a beautiful ceremony lead by Whisper and Summer with speeches from Bubba, Kwanita, Ket and Sunny. Afterwards there were dancing assisted by Diana from the Xoco playing drums for us all.

Naked Wednesday with Dinosaurs

This Wednesday was a small intimate Wednesday just for the tribe.

Many are on vacation but the ones that were in camp went to streak in front of the dinosaurs and gather strength potion. After there was a bath to wash off the dino smell and then some dancing.

New Tapirapé Village

The Tapirapé Totem

Finally the new village have been completed. It was celebrated by a big party with a speech from Elder Bubba and a blessing from Whisper and Summer.

Elder Bubba

Bubba’s Speech:

Bubba: Flops his papers and looks around
Bubba: “When ever the Tapirapé tribe has a grand event – it is the custom that the eldest elder speak….”
Bubba: “So you are forced to listen to me – eventhough I am young at heart!”
Bubba: “A fortnight ago a great catastrophe befell our village!”
Bubba: “A storm raged – undoubtedly sent by the jealous Wind God, that razed our little village!”
Bubba: “Supay sent death to our fields and the Wind God ravaged our huts….”
Bubba: “But the Tapirapé have always been pious people – we have always honored the Gods with body and soul!”
Bubba: “So we prayed to to Viracocha the great male god, to Cocha Mama the greath jungle mother – and Viracoca rewarded us with greath strenght and erection!”
Bubba: “Of new huts!”
Bubba: “New huts were erected to honor the Gods and the ancestors – even our most female elders erected huts!”
Bubba: “And so we stand here today – not in a village – but in a METROPOLIS – to rival Libertad itself!”
Bubba: “A new shining capital for the Tapirapé tribe!”
Bubba: “A shining city! A jewel of the North!”
Bubba: “It is my greath pleasure to welcome you all on behalf of the Elders and People of the Tapirapé!”
Bubba: shouts: “Welcome!”
Bubba: Takes off his glasses and folds the papers back

Then after Bubba’s speech followed a Blessing of the camp by Whisper and Summer

Paint, Vaccines and Tribe meeting

A cosy day today in the tribe. We started out doing body painting in the camp while waiting for people to come get vaccinated using yesterdays shards and scales. After the vaccinations, it was time for the tribe meeting in the cave.

Naked Wednesday – Whales!

Today the tribe traveled to Sansara to jump the whales and get shards for tomorrows vaccine and tribe meeting. Was a lot of fun, and with some frustrations as well… mostly fun though! Next Wednesday we go poke the dinosaurs!

Naked Wednesday

The tribe spontaneously celebrated Naked Wednesday with a bath and with some dancing. It felt all nostalgic, so perhaps we’ll have a few more revivals in the future.

SL21B Relaxing and Goat Ritual

SL21B is starting and the Amazon have a great jungle installation there. The tribe have been active there, talking, welcoming people, relaxing with body paint, fishing and dancing.

Today we performed our Goat Ritual and many people came both from the Amazon as well as visitors from SL21B.

Summer, Atan and Whisper at the Goat Ritual

Bubba Oh: “As the oldest elder, among the Taiprapé tribe – it always falls to me, to give a speech on such occasions – as when the tribe invites the jungle to partake in our traditions…”

Bubba Oh: “We stand here in the fire land to make ourselves known!”
Bubba Oh: “And to be a beaming torch to let our jungle be known far and wide!”
